Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines said they found it unnecessary to shell out an extra Rs 10 crore for the new terminal, especially since they would have to shift to the new integrated terminal -- T3 -- in less than a year. T3, when it begins functioning in March 2010, will be an integrated terminal for all operators. Kingfisher, Kingfisher Red and IndiGo have already started operations from the new T1D terminal, while Jet Airways, JetLite and SpiceJet are yet to shift.

The lunar orbiter Chang'e-1 blasted off on board a Long March 3A carrier rocket at 6:05 pm (local time), as it began its journey to explore and map the moon's surface. The Golden Chariot, Karnataka's first luxury tourist train, has made its debut on the tracks. The train has 11 plush and fully air-conditioned passenger cars, two restaurant cars, a bar cum conference hall, a gym car and a staff car. It was made with an investment of Rs 50 crore. Starting from Bangalore, the train's trip will end at Goa, where it's linked with the Deccan Odyssey. Its fare for one person for 7-day journey is $3395 (about Rs 1.36 lakhs) during the peak season.
